HTML Intro

3 things I want to learn about HTML:
1. How to properly build and format a webpage.
2. How to make webpage's look professional.
3. How to add fun effects and videos to a webpage.

2 things I have learned about HTML:
1. The < /> method of HTML.
2. <b> makes the text bold.

1 concern I have about making a webpage:
1. Not finishing the projects in time.

Review Binary Code

Kalli's New Binary Code was:
< represents the number 0
> represents the number 1

< > < < < = H
< > < < > = I

< < < < < = space

< > > < > = M
> > < < > = Y

< < < < < = space

< > > > < = N
< < < < > = A
< > > < > = M
< < > < > = E

< < < < < = space

< > < < > = I
> < < > > = S

< < < < < = space

< > < > < = J
> < < < < = O
< > > > < = N
< < < < > = A

Now I will write the same sentence using Sophie's code, which is:
+ represents 1
_ represents 0

_ + _ _ _ = H
_ + _ _ + = I

_ _ _ _ _ = space

_ + + _ + = M
+ + _ _ + = Y
_ _ _ _ _ = space

_ + _ _ + = I
+ _ _ + + = S

_ _ _ _ _ = space
_ + _ + _ = J
_ + + + + = O
_ + + + _ = N
_ _ _ _ + = A

Eliza

1. Eliza seems pretty human like as long as it is you communicating with her and she return with small comments and questions. It is like a one sided conversation, though she does mess up sometimes.
2. You can try to make her seem more human by adding some information of her own (other than her name) that she can give.
3. Computers can probably express human-like words, but it is most likely very challenging to have them express human like emotions because they are so complicated and the actions/reactions that go with them vary so much person to person.
4. I do not think that computers should substitute humans in the future. Computers and robots are good to build machines and complete tasks, but they should not be a substitute for human company and conversation (like in the movie Her).

Google

1. Google was able to expand a 2 man operation into a very big company through a lot of hard work and a lot of thought put into the future of the company.
2. One of Google's challenges the competition is fierce and the company expanded so quickly that they have to be careful not to lose control of it.
3. Google has great technology and keeps their methods secret as a way to stay ahead of the competition.
4. Google has developed technology that goes out into the web and copies many pages and links them back to Google so that when someone searches, it can direct them back to that site using keywords. It also knows the popularity and credibility of the websites, so it lists the bets ones as the top search results.

Choose Your Own Culture

The culture I chose is the Yupik people, who are aboriginal to Alaska and often called Eskimos. They have many traditions, including seal hunting and the making of canoes. One of their cultural traditions is making parkas with elaborate designs. The style is still sometimes mimicked in modern day western clothing, as it is warm and lined with fur and perfect for a cold winter. the clothes are composed of animal skin and fur and are made of small squares of fabric sewn together. I mimicked creating a checkered pattern in black and white.

Cultural Background - Native Americans

1. Native American art and culture are well known for this bead work.
2. A key concept for this craft is symmetry.
3. Reflection symmetry and 4 fold symmetry.
4. The 4 images are made of geometric shapes.
5. Embroidery, Bead work, Hide drum, Navajo Rug.
6. Reflection symmetry is when either the right and left mirror each other or the top and bottom mirror each other.
7. Teepees are made out of 4 base poles, one in each direction.
8. Navajo sand paintings used 4 fold symmetry.
9. Yupik parka designs also use 4 fold symmetry.
10. 4 fold symmetry is used in bead looms in Native American culture.
11. Native American bead work was created before the Europeans arrived.
12. The designs are used for art, clothing, and religious services.

Computer Project Reflection

In This Project:

I learned more about the differences between Macs and PCs, such as the operating systems.

I liked having a situation that we had to customize the project around.

I had a challenge in deciding which computer is best because there are similarities.

First Post

Hi I am Jona Lee and I am a senior at RMHS. I love cats, though I unfortunately do not have one. I do have a chinchilla, his name is Joey and he is 3. I love the fall and can't wait for the leaves to chance colors. I like to kayak, swim, and ice skate. I am in the drama club, the GSA, CAARES, and a few others at the high school. I like Disney movies and medical TV shows, such as Grey's Anatomy. I am thinking of becoming a nurse in the future.
